Origin of Wedding Traditions - Colored Wedding Dresses

Before Victorian times, dresses were not always white. Blue was the original color that symbolized purity, and most likely where the "something blue" in the rhyme came form.

In other cultures, white has never been a common wedding dress color. Norwegian brides traditional wore green and Icelandic brides wore black.
